Biographie de l'artiste :

Ernesto CARDOSO is born in Porto (Portugal) in 1964. He arrived in France with his familly at the age of four and lived in Troyes. He studied architecture first at the Art School of Troyes and then in Paris (Ecole des Beaux Arts).
At that time, he was already painting.
After his studies, he worked for few years in an Architecture Agency.
At the same time he participed to some collective exhibitions in Troyes and in Paris.

In 1999, he decided to live in Provence and work only at his painting.
In 2000, he creates with a group of artists the collective Libres comme l’ère.
Libres comme l’ère has a manifest : « live and create far away from big cities ».

In July 2000 and again in July 2001 Ernesto Cardoso has participed to the artistic Marathon in l’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. This is a 24 hours performance of art.

His first exhibition in Provence was in August 2000 in l’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue at the Allegria Di Naufragi Galery.
In December 2000, the second exhibition was a collective one with Libres comme l’ère.

In October 2004, Ernesto Cardoso presented « ma cop’s de Rekjavik »(title of the major peace of the exhibition and hommage to Björk) at la Tour d’Argent Galery in l’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
In August 2007 Ernesto Cardoso presented « Variations et réminiscences latines » at la Tour d’Argent in l’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, where you discovered and liked Ex-Nihilo.

Ernesto Cardoso works also for set designers and for interior decoration.
